ADMISSION POLICY for Board/Licensure Courses

San Isidro College implements the “Screened Admission and Selective Retention Policy” on board/licensure courses. The purpose is to select potential students who have the intellectual, attitudinal characteristics and stamina to pursue difficult and very demanding academic works. Hence, these programs have entry requirements. The admission policies include specific provisions for the incoming first year students, transferees, second-coursers, returnees and shiftees.

In-coming First Year Students

  1. All in-coming first year students who intend to enrol in board/licensure courses should:
1.1 take the SIC assessment test or SICAT and must get the desired cut off score.
1.2 have an average grade of 83 or higher in their H.S. report card or Form 138.
1.3 give a clear photocopy of the CSAT and/or NCAE result, if available

*In the Education, Nursing and Midwifery programs, the student must be also mentally, psychologically and physically fit.

Transferees

  1. Transferees are required to take the SICAT and must get the desired cut off score.
  2. Transferees have to show their transcript of record or rating report for evaluation purposes and appropriate subject-loading.
  3. The Dean will look into the grade profile of the transferee and may require a transferee to retake a subject or subjects, especially those with low rating. Thus, the Dean judiciously decides which subjects have to be credited based on SIC’s curricular policies and requirements.

Second-coursers

  1. Second-coursers who are graduates of other colleges/universities:
1.1 are required to take the SICAT and other tests and must get the desired cut off score.
1.2 must have an average grade of 2.50 or higher (or its equivalent in other rating schemes) in his/her first degree or course.
1.3 are advised to pursue other interests if the general average grade is below 2.50
  2. Second-coursers who are graduates of SIC are no longer required to take the SICAT, but still go to the Guidance Office for the Certificate of Admission. However, they:
2.1 should have an average grade of 2.50 or higher
2.2 are advised to pursue other interests if the general average is below 2.50

Returnees

  1. Returnees have to retake the SICAT if they have left SIC for more than one year. The average grade of the previously taken subjects must be 2.50. Other concerns for admission will be determined by the Dean.
  2. Not all returnees can be admitted back to the program if their previous academic performance did not qualify for the pursuit of the board/licensure course.

Shiftees

* Shiftees from other courses are admitted provided their grades qualify for the admission requirements. Other concerns for admission will be determined by the Dean.

* Not all shiftees can be admitted to the board/licensure program if their grade profile does not meet the entry requirement.

* Students of the Board/Licensure programs who were advised to shift to other courses are no longer admitted back to the Board/Licensure course which he/she came from.
