San Isidro College of the City of Malaybalay, Bukidnon, Philippines is a non-stock, non-profit Catholic educational institution under the administration of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Malaybalay (Diocese of Malaybalay) a corporation sole classified by law as Religious Institution. Its operation is recognized by the government agencies on Education such as the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) for its professional programs, Department of Education (DepEd) for its Basic Education programs and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) for its short technical-vocational courses.
Fr. Joseph Reith, S.J. founded San Isidro High School in 1949. He named the School San Isidro after Malaybalay’s Patron Saint of the parish, San Isidro Labrador. Sr. Mary Redempta McConnel, CSJ came after Fr. Reith. She ran the school for eighteen years and had it attained full College status in 1969.
Many administrators served San Isidro College: the Marist Brothers in the 70’s and early 80’s, the Benedictine Sisters in late 80’s and the 90’s, the Diocese of Malaybalay at the end of the 90’s and the beginning of the millennium, the Cannosian Daughters of Charity in early part of 2000 and the Diocese of Malaybalay again in 2006 up to the present with Fr. Virgilio H. Delfin, CPA, DCM as the President.
It was Fr. Joseph Reith S.J. and Sr. Mary Redempta McConnel, CSJ who blazed the trail of the tradition of Catholic Education in Malaybalay characterized by academic excellence, spiritual formation and character development through self-discipline. This legacy found its home at San Isidro College among its stakeholders in the past, in the present and in the future.
