(COL-FIST- College, HIGH-FIST- High School, GS-FIST- Grade School, IT-FIST Institute of Technical and Health-related Training Programs)

Aside from off-campus seminars and training for updating and upgrading of teaching competencies, the Faculty members are given in-service training with the same goal as the off-campus seminars – to update/upgrade teaching skills .

The content and approach of the in-service training is based on the assessment of need or problem in instruction, recent developments in instruction and results of the evaluation by the students, academic heads and other stakeholders. The resource speakers/persons may come from the pool of in-house talents or invited experts from the outside. The ultimate purpose of the program is to develop an updated teaching force who knows both the theories and practices of teaching-learning and research

RIKAS Program (Retooling: Instructional knowledge, Attitude and Skills)

The RIKAS Program is meant primarily for the academic leaders. Its aim is to update, improve, reorient or shape up the academic leaders for the purpose of improving instructional knowledge, skills and attitude. The program intends to fit out new set of ideas with the old to upgrade performance. Academic leaders need to know the theories of instruction and learning and their application in the learning environment and the learners so they can effectively execute their job as academic leaders.

The approach and content of the program is based on the assessment of need and the result of evaluation of the performance of the academic leaders by the students, their subordinates, their immediate head and other stakeholders. The strategies employed are seminars, workshops, round table discussions, conferences, benchmarking, cooperative learning techniques, team work, etc. The ultimate purpose of this program is to build a culture of learning among the academic leaders regardless of age, position and field of specialization. It envisions to develop academic leaders who continually learn and consciously free themselves from stagnation within their comfort zones.
